HOW DO I BOOK A PHOTO SESSION?
To book a photo session, you must have a signed contract and session fee paid. We can fill out your paperwork at our in person consultation prior to your session or you can do it via email if that is easier for you.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY SESSION?
Families should dress in coordinating colors, but not matching outfits. Choose a color palette with a few different colors combined with some neutral colors. High school seniors should plan on 3 to 4 outfits (casual, funky, formal, and an outfit that represents their passion or hobby). Layers look best during any season and accessories often polish a look. For more information, please vista my what to wear section under info.
WHERE WILL MY PHOTO SESSION TAKE PLACE?
I am currently an on location photographer. This means that I travel to specific locations, such as parks, rivers, or even to your home, for portrait sessions. I generally shoot outdoors, but can set up a studio in your home if needed. Boudoir sessions are usually held in luxury hotels, but can take place in your home as well.
HOW LONG WILL MY PHOTO SESSION TAKE?
Standard portrait sessions take about an hour, while high school senior sessions usually take 2-4 hours. This allows everyone to get comfortable with the photographer and being in front of the camera. It also allows us time to get that perfect moment captured and find unique settings within our location. Boudoir sessions usually take about 2 hours from the time you start your hair and make up until the time you’re done with your photo session.
WILL I GET A PHOTO CD?
Unless you order a package that includes a photo CD, you will not receive any prints or products with your session. The session fee covers my travel, time, and fees associated with the portrait session. You may order a photo CD at an additional cost.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS?
Most portrait sessions will take 2-4 weeks to edit, depending on how busy I am at the time. Once your photos have been edited, we will schedule an in person ordering appointment for approximately a week later. At that appointment you will get to view your proofs and decide what to order. After you have placed your order and made payment, it will take 2-6 weeks to receive your photo products (most items are available in 2-4 weeks, but some specialty items take longer). If your session comes with a photo CD and does not include an in person ordering session, you can expect your photo CD approximately 2-4 weeks after your session has taken place.
HOW MUCH WILL MY PHOTOS COST?
In addition to your session fee, there is a minimum order of $300 that must be met. I do, however, have digital collections and print collections that start at $400 and include discounted pricing. Most clients expect to spend between $600-1000 total on their portraits.
WHAT IF I WANT TO ORDER MORE PHOTOS AFTER MY INITIAL ORDER?
I will keep your images on file for 6 months and you may order at any time during that period. Current minimums will apply for each additional order. So, for example, if you’d like to order $100 worth of products, that is not an option. You must meet whatever the current order minimum is at the time.
WHAT IF I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY PHOTOS?
If you are not happy with your photos when you see your proofs, you have the option of purchasing a re-shoot at 50% off the current session fee. The photos from the first session, however, will be deleted and may not be ordered. Due to the custom nature of portrait photography, once you’ve ordered your prints and products, there will be no re-shoots or refunds. If an item is defective, I will replace the item if I am notified of the issue within 24 hours of delivery.
WHAT IF MY CHILD IS NOT COOPERATING DURING THE SESSION?
It’s not uncommon for kids to be displeased with the idea of having their photos taken. This is part of the reason I tell clients to expect their session take about an hour. I really like to give children (ahem…and some adults) to warm up to me and to the idea of being photographed. If your baby or toddler, however, is just not happy during the session, even after some time, I’m happy to offer a re-shoot at a time that better suits their mood.
DO YOU ACCEPT OR EXPECT TIPS?
No, absolutely not.
