If you’ve followed my blog or my work, you are likely familiar with the name Kate Miles. This girl is simply incredible. She’s been sewing since she was four and by thirteen was making custom gowns for weddings, proms, and special occasions. By sixteen, she had already graduated from high school and had an associate’s degree. By (barely) seventeen, she was off to NYC for college. When I was her age, I was cruising the mall for cute boys and looking for loose change in my car for taco bell and $2.17 worth of gas. This girl is talented, determined, and accomplished. She’s been featured in a variety of publications, both in the fashion world, and local newspapers. Her designs have walked the runway more than once during Portland Fashion week, as well as Fashion week up in Vancouver, B.C.
Anywho, shortly before she ran off to college, I snapped a few senior portraits of her. I even snapped a few in her design studio. Yes, she’s as tiny as she looks, not even 5ft tall. I seriously want to put her in my pocket and carry around with me all the time. If she didn’t already have an AMAZING mom, I’d consider stealing her. I’m lucky enough, though, to have both a working and personal relationship. She even calls me her “art mom.” I’ll take it!
